Welcome to
Te Waipounamu Christian Spiritual Retreat
At our Christian Spiritual Retreat, we are devoted to creating a supportive and nurturing environment for individuals, couples (and families) facing life's challenges. Our core values, our mission is to provide compassionate care that uplifts spirit and fosters personal healing through faith.
Our Services
We offer a range of services tailored to meet the unique needs of our guests, including:
Short-term Respite Care - safe and peaceful accommodations that promote relaxation and rejuvenation. Professional guidance and emotional support led by trained caregivers who align with our Christian values and our New Zealand Heritage values.
Our dedicated team members are passionate individuals who bring compassion and expertise to our services. We believe that healing happens in community and are committed to fostering positive relationships among guests, staff and volunteers.
We also encourage couples and whanau to contact us about spending time at the Retreat, with the focus on strengthening bonds and relationships.
Our team members come from various backgrounds, all sharing a commitment to service and the Christian faith in their own unique way.
"Second chances are not given to make things right but to prove that we could be better even after we fall.
The beauty of a second chance is not just in the opportunity, but in the hope that comes with it."
Creating a pathway to enter back into the community...
Integrating back into the community after prison can be a challenging & hard process, but many individuals find that a spiritual approach can facilitate meaningful connections and promote healing. We work along side organisations such as the Ministry of Social Development, Oranga Tamariki, the Ministry of Justice, and the Department of Corrections and work closely with them to provide a positive pathway forward.
Spiritual teachings often emphasize forgiveness, which can help mend relationships with family members or community members that may have been strained prior to incarceration.
Personal Reflection and Growth...
Our spiritual retreat provides an opportunity for individuals to step away from everyday stresses, reflect deeply, and to help reconnect with their core values and community. We have helped individuals and families who seek to achieve real change to live healthier and safer lives.

A Spiritual Health Perspective
Land and Sea Contention:
The intersection of spirituality, land, and sea holds a deep significance, particularly within communities that have historically relied on these natural resources for their cultural, physical, and spiritual sustenance.
Contention related to land and sea disputes can profoundly impact not only the physical wellbeing of communities but also their spiritual health and connection to their heritage.

The Spiritual Connection to Land and Sea:
For many cultures, land and sea are not merely resources; they are sacred entities that embody identity, history, and spirituality. The ties to the land often encompass traditions, rituals, and beliefs passed down through generations.
Similarly, the sea can invoke feelings of peace, connection, and sustenance, serving as a backdrop for spiritual practices and communal gatherings.
